Your faith in God and deeds have very important role in your life here in this world and life after death. Your faith and deeds are interrelated to each other. Your deeds are dependent on your faith. Right faith in God leads to good deeds and the result will be everlasting life in paradise after death. We see different religions and faiths around us like Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam. Our first most duty is to identify the true religion (faith) from God Almighty and then act on it according to its teachings. |
Purpose of life
Our life on this earth has a specific purpose; it is not the result of nature's accident, nor is it a punishment for eating the fruit of the forbidden tree. We are here according to God's plan: the worldly life is a test; it is a chance to prove ourselves as deserving of the eternal blissful life in the hereafter. God did not create us just for few years of this life. Muhammad (PBUH), the Prophet of Islam, said," You have not been created to perish; on the contrary, you have been created for eternal life."
According to Islam, the final destination of mankind is the life hereafter. At the end of time, all human beings will be resurrected and will be held accountable for their worldly life. The life in hereafter will be an eternal life. However, whether it will be blissful or full of sorrow depends on how we spend our present life.
Allah, the Almighty, created human beings to do His bidding and to obey His commands. So the purpose of human life is to obey God. Usually this is understood as complete submission to him shown in obedience to his commands, as revealed in the Quran. Islam itself means submission, and Muslim one who submits (to God). There is no real division in Islam between the sacred and the secular, so worship usually is considered as covering every aspect of life. Hence the Quran give clear directions on what Muslims may or may not do (what is Halal or Haram), and how they are to do it.
Islam insists that people live now remembering the Day of Judgement, and life after death. God gives guidance which if followed should ensure a reward for believers in heaven. Acts of worship now store up rewards for the later life, so that a person's devotion to God and to Islam should be more important than his wealth or fame. Some verses from the Quran are cited as proof that humans should also enjoy the fruit of creation, thanking God for and making the most of his good gifts, such as 22:65 Have you not seen how Allah has made all that is in the earth subservient to you?and 31:20 See you not how Allah has made serviceable unto you, whatever is in the sky and whatever is in the earth and has made His bounties flow to you in exceeding measure (both) seen and unseen? Islam shuns hedonism (seeking after pleasure alone), accumulation of wealth (especially at others expense), and seeking fame as aims for life. These aims focus solely on this life and indeed often become irrelevant and unsatisfying even within life on earth, they do not give due respect to God and make no provision for life after death. Worship is a greater purpose for life than hoarding wealth.
